Everybody has a different view or perspective on this self-driving car. I will start with the view of a taxi driver. A taxi driver depends on people needing to know where to go, when tourist come to any place really they will need someone to drive them places. All because they do not know how to get there. With this car there would be no need for an actual driver in any car, eliminating all bus and taxi drivers everywhere in the U.S. This would be really bad for all of the drivers of buses or taxis, a lot of people would loose there job.
This will be the perspective of a tourist. Tourist depend on someone taking them places, that is how the majority of a visiting persons gets around. Will it soon be something instead of someone, this could be better for them. A computer is safer in the sense that you will obey the speed laws, traffic laws, and parking and legal laws. For the traveler it is no big deal, it might even be safer for them.
This is the perspective of the average working american. About 50% of americans do not own a car and just use taxis or buses. They depend on a taxi or bus to take them to work or a meeting or sports or lunch and fast. A taxi driver is a very experienced city driver, he/she knows every little secret there is on how to get around in the city and fast at that. A computer goes the speed limit at all times and is not expected to be able to maneuver as well as a human. So for the commuter this is not a good thing, it is expected to add about 6-10 minutes on the average trip and that means you pay more money.
My option, I think they should leave the taxi and bus drivers alone. They need those jobs to pay the bills and taxis, which will most likely rise due to having to install all of this technology. Nothing will ever replace a human, thats why God made humans not computers. It should not be allowed, someone needs to take a stand for what is right, this is not right and it should be shut down. Humans are born smarter than any computer, not in non relevant knowledge, but smarts and instinct.
